Plea of the Amorist

A kiss as sweet as honey,
A touch as light as the midday breeze,
That smile so bright and sunny,
All wrapped in a hidden bitter freeze,

I know you put on a smile,
One to disregard the pain,
For many your guise is worth your while,
Alas, I recognize it's all in vain,

I heard your caterwaul deep in the night,
It's sound was hollow, gaunt, and grim,
At first it filled me with a desolate fright,
My heart was filled with sorrow to the brim,

Many cannot fathom beyond the dulcet facade,
Only blinded and blissfully led astray,
I, my love, see through into your
disconsolate fraud,
And for your heart's ease I pray,

I long to hold you and comfort your soul,
To shelter you in the solace of my grasp,
Shall I make this desire my life's goal?
Or shall I weep for you until my voice is rasp?

My love, let me brush your locks,
Let me stroke your face,
Permit me to remove these terrible frocks,
And speed up your cold heart's pace,

Come, upon my bosom rest your head,
Lament that of your suppressed emotion,
Finally lay down your fury, fear, and dread,
And let me show you that which is true devotion.
