Play the Sad Song Again

Play sad songs and wallow deep

Play the Sad Song Again

Play the sad song again,

let it fill the empty air.

The notes fall heavy slowly,

like rain against the glass.

Each chord is made of sorrow,

each word a wounded cry.

The melody remembers,

what silence cannot hide.

Play the sad song again,

I need its broken sound.

It echoes all I’m feeling,

yet says it far more clear.

The keys are struck with longing,

the strings are pulled with grief.

The voice is worn and trembling,

yet true in every line.

Play the sad song again,

until my heart is bare.

Until the tears have spoken,

what lips could never say.

I lean into its shadow,

and find a bitter peace.

For sadness can be comfort,

when nothing else will come.

Play the sad song again,

then let it fade away.

But know I will remember,

its sorrow as my own.

Nothing like a sad song, a bottle of wine and a good cry to make you feel better. 😉😉
