A Poem

By Angel AdagioPublished about a year ago Updated about a year ago 1 min read

My worries and reservations were buried

by your words which felt right enough.

I was drowning and being pulled under by the weight

and I stopped fighting the current.

You pulled the chains off and brought me back to the surface

showed me the current can calm

as long as I kept swimming.

You carried me over your shoulder

helped me to my feet,

but I kept stumbling

and you got tired.

You needed someone to carry you

I gave you my shoulder,

I wasn't enough.

The current picked back up

more violent than ever

you found another soul who matched your own

and I continued to fight the current alone.

Forever is what you said once,

but I was just the placeholder

filling in the gaps

until you found the piece that fit

just right.

What a rotten puzzle he has and you are the GEM, not the missing piece!
