Light of my phone -
reaching, grasping
lighting the shadows around me
enough to make out features.
I am still alive on this earth -
though you haven't written, haven't called, haven't posted
in so long.
My heart aches.
This light, my only connection to you.
It lights my surroundings,
but not my heart.
You appear -
a tiny face on a screen,
so far away,
so unreachable.
Even with technology,
morals keep us separated,
except by the light of these
glowing icons upon a screen -
your visage, forever etched into my brain.
The light flickers out,
I must rest, I must sleep, I must forget.
You... always on my mind,
only sometimes on my phone.
Lit,
long gone,
never forgotten,
reappearing, disappearing,
making the light meaningful...
flooding my brain with feeling.
