Phases

A Poem

Phases

Muse of all muses

Surrounded by night

Adorned with the stars

A luminous beauty bright

A muse with many faces

Each one unique

Some nights, a slender crescent

Some nights, shimmering and full

Some nights shrouded in mystery

Some nights eclipsed by the sun

Some nights efflorescent

Some nights clouded and obscured

With every phase, she changes

Another air of her beauty revealed

With every phase, she changes

As all of nature does

Like the sun, rising and falling

Like the ocean waves, coming and going

Like the leaves, flourishing and falling

Like the flowers, blooming and fading

Like the seasons, ever turning

Like us, ever changing

And yet, through every phase,

Though her faces continually change,

Her gentle sheen remains the same

Waxing and waning

Always glowing

The muse of all muses

In all her argent glory
