Many have asked if these proud hounds are mine
In truth, I am blessed to belong to them
Without them, on sand I would nightly dine
A hunter's eye is a rare, precious gem

Do I use these regal runners to hunt?
No more than the tide uses the bright moon
I simply follow their instructions, blunt
Without their noses, I'd be lost quite soon

Preening and pompous are most human souls
Prone are they to treat animals like things
For their ears and ours, the same old bell tolls
News of birth and death, to us all it brings

These hounds rule these sands; I am their subject
To being called theirs, I do not object

I wanna belong to them too. I wonder if they'll like me hehehehe. Loved your poem
This was amazing. You've woven vivid emotions into words. I really like the animal angle in this bit of poetry as well - it's so true that we are but chosen by and belong to them. Well done.
An exemplary ekphrastic piece! As a dabbler in the ekphrasis realm I am in awe of the way you approach these masterpieces and create your own! Really liked, “Without them, on sand I would nightly dine”
Dr. Reddall! b e a u t i f u l The image is nice; but, you paint it all around us with your words. :)
Oo! I loved this one! It was stark and desolate, much like a desert. Great poem!
