There’s a phantom of our love
That exasperates through old touch
My finger lost so much
It couldn’t bear to budge what was
So on my finger sits a ring that no longer exists or so it seems
It’s no longer there but it has been
Oh it had been
I asked you to marry me
You said yes I was filled with glee
Thought I found the one to be
My bride where I dressed in white with gold ridden through the seams
But we ripped apart through them before I could ever be
Gold I’d never be
Our love we failed to see
Our minds monstrosities captivated all our weddings festivities
As it was happening we thought oh god no please!
But we didn’t believe a god so we just sat there crying oh so hopelessly on our god forsaken knees
We knew the end was approaching
We couldn’t handle it
We were poaching for each others hearts
But our minds had a head start
Never could capture them and pull them apart from what we really wanted
So that sunrise I departed
I wrote you a note, a love letter that broke
A chain of letters that spoke
That we needed to stop being each-others antidotes
I left the ring as tears stroked my cheek
Wishing it was your fingers but it just couldn’t be
Taking it off felt wrong
My finger agreed
The air around it lingered a little more heavily
Phantom ring
Phantom ring
I wish to you I could bring
The ring that would bring wedding bells to sing
Ding ding ding
But instead they sing different things
Non existence
Still believing it belonged there for a reason
But the reason is dying
Finger you’ll never be finding what had been
I rid of you phantom
Ghost of my past
I sincerely wish I didn’t have to
But you’re no longer of use
Hope died when she looked in to another’s eyes and found a fonder love
Hope died when I realized we’d never be what was
Phantom ring, you died once our heart strings were cut
Rest In Peace now
She’s at peace now
Leave me be now
So I can be found
