A Poem

If I were to ponder far beyond your eyes

and the simple curve of your brightest smile,

Would I know how to feel what is kind?

Or would I see from behind your paprika freckles

And the gentle flaking pastries through to your heart

Made it honeys and jams so fresh

The hummingbirds and honeyeaters

Amongst their bellowing candlelight flickers of wings and colourful tails

They’d surprise you by gently reaching your core

And planting the seeds of the wildflowers braided neatly beneath your fingertips

I dream

And the worlds I carve in ink and spiralled forests aren’t enough

Let it be that the wind carries peace and petals far from here

And they hold in their centre

My dreams with you.
