Perseverance
Sometimes she lays alone at night
The gentle sound of her breathing
The delicate rise and fall of her chest
Almost imperceptible in the stillness
But if you could see into her mind
You'd be lost in the chaos and noise
Swifter than a flooding brook
It yells and whispers, laughs and cries, all at the same time
She can smile at you in the darkness
Bathe with you in the light
But behind those glistening eyes
Is a world you'll never understand
Behind each smile is a hurt deeper than you can fathom
She gets up each morning a broken soul
Mazes of dreams reminding her of what she'd rather forget
Yet she pushes on and puts the pieces back together
Her determination bending but never breaking
She is no ordinary woman
Though some might not be able to see
Her name is perseverance and she sings her words to me
One more time, every time and every time, one more time...
