Perfectly Imperfect

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 2 months ago 1 min read

Verse 1

I don’t love you for perfection’s sake,

Or for the picture the world might make.

It’s the tiny sparks that make you shine,

In your gentle warmth, I know you’re mine.

You stumble through the hours like we all do,

Chasing dreams that sometimes slip from view.

But in every crack, I see the gold,

You’re the light that steadies me when nights grow cold.

Chorus

I love you not for the masks they sell,

Or the polished stories the world would tell.

It’s the crooked lines that make you whole,

Perfect for my imperfect soul.

In this tangled rhythm, we’re free to be true,

Every scar and story is love shining through.

Verse 2

You laugh at the slips, the clumsy turns,

And I join in, with joy that burns.

In the moments where we trip and fall,

It’s those broken pieces that bind it all.

We’re unfinished art, still being drawn,

But together we sing our own dawn.

Every note we play rings clear and strong,

In our flawed harmony, we both belong.

Chorus

I love you not for the masks they sell,

Or the polished stories the world would tell.

It’s the crooked lines that make you whole,

Perfect for my imperfect soul.

In this tangled rhythm, we’re free to be true,

Every scar and story is love shining through.

Bridge

So let’s hold the chaos, the highs and lows,

Celebrate the wildness as the current flows.

In the mess of our days, I find my friend,

In this perfectly imperfect love that won’t end.

Chorus

I love you not for the masks they sell,

Or the polished stories the world would tell.

It’s the crooked lines that make you whole,

Perfect for my imperfect soul.

In this tangled rhythm, we’re free to be true,

Every scar and story is love shining through.

Outro

Here’s to the journey, the laughter, the tears,

To holding each other through all of our fears.

I don’t love you for being flawless or right,

But in our imperfections, you make my heart bright.
