The first of May was a coin-toss

You were on the fray, like dental floss

But I held you tight as you melted

into liquid gold, and I was drinking

The rain came down and we caught a cold

Hot toddies by the fire, burning real slow

We were shut in, close

nowhere else to go

Billie playing quiet on the radio

In our bunker, we were safe and warm

who knew your kiss could calm a perfect storm?

The first of May was a coin toss

that landed on love and white frost

love poems
