her salty tear drops drip down her face
they crawl down her chin and reach her aching heart
her long hair tucked into a black beret
red lips parted slightly holding her tongue between her teeth
blue eyes looking out the window
wrote her a note to try to bring a smile on her face
she steps out before i could stand up
i guess blondes don’t always have the most fun
•
his caramel eyes melt into mine as he glances my way
then turns to face the street
bright smile on his face as though he just won the lottery
his head bends down between his arms
he stares at the world around him
taking everything in
he looks so at peace as i stare at him from the window
soon enough i hear him scratching on the door
asking to be let in
•
two duffle bags
a hydro flask in hand
she starts dozing off despite her attempts of staying awake
i suppose hard work always leaves you this way
•
piercings cover his face like an art show
he holds roses in one hand and sunshine in the other
serious but when his phone lights up
his eyes follow
•
she looks into her mirror
then promptly slams it shut
stuffs it in her purse
glances at the window
then brings it back out
tilt it slightly
as though her reflection is deceiving
as if another angle will show a different face
a better version
one she likes
upsetting
starts picking at her image
fawning over her flaws
she’s a harsh critic
one that cries
one that weeps
trying to fix what isn't anything
but pretty
