Penicillin - The 8th Wonder

Oh, Penicillin, what can I say,

But thank you for the gift of life you bring,

With your miraculous power every day,

To heal the sick and make their hearts sing.

From the young to the old, from rich to poor,

You care not for status or for wealth,

Your healing touch reaches all with amour,

And restores their health and their true self.

I've seen you work your magic in the wards,

As patients once ravaged by disease,

Were brought back to life by your healing cords,

And given a new chance to live with ease.

So here's to you, Penicillin, our savior,

May your power endure and never waver.

A sonnet is a type of poem that consists of 14 lines written in iambic pentameter, which is a rhythmic pattern of five unstressed syllables followed by five stressed syllables.
