Peaceful Grief

A daughters prayer

By Brittany JeanPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

There was a cardinal at my window

That I just so happened to see

On a table, looking up at me.

Pitter patter, hopping with your feet.

A tweet of a beak, then you flew freely

Like fire in the wind.

Dancing in the sky, you sway, you glide

Swiftly away, in Peace.

But still you made me aware

I’ll always see you, you’ll always be there.

Little moments we share.

At least a candle in the wind cares.

Least in the end, through breaks and bends

Some soul travelled over seas and lands

To grow weary and rest with me.

Even if momentarily.

And if I alone grasp the beauty of this,

Let it be.

Let all the flame, wind, hail fall into my reality.

Let all the elements collide into me,

Travel swiftly with the breeze.

Bless me with devotion and loyalty

To consume my soul with the wildness

That lies within me.

So that I too, can dance in the sky

Putting the wind to my wings,

Peacefully.
