Patterns That Hold Us

Breaking the Generational Curse

By J.K. CunninghamPublished 9 months ago 1 min read
Life, born of flames

What a crazy time we live in

What a major let down

I only wish I had the energy, the focus

Knowing what I know now

To do what it takes to make real change

I suppose that was always your plan

But I will fight

And I will find out what it means to fight

I will continue to break the patterns that hold us

Just to spite

You and you and you and you and you

These walls were constructed even before we were born

(In the land of the free)

Way back when Patty trapped us into thinking

Switching siblings was anything

but a bad thing

But it’s a bad thing

They made secrets

Avant- guard

The roots go back so far

But I will fight

And I will find out what it means to fight

I will break the patterns that hold us

Just to spite

You and you and you

When I wrote this, I was thinking it could be be a song. Kinda upbeat, maybe a lil punk. What do you think? Also, can anyone tell me what they think the “patty” reference is about?
