Eagerness turned to aggression,

While the rest of the world receded

Up the shore, not far to go, aiming to find safe ground.

The troops fell in succession,

Engaged by rage and depression,

They couldn't keep their hearts concealed.

Onward the waves proceeded,

Caring not if their presence was needed.

Halting to recover,

Three men had just discovered,

Two hearts beating with no sound;

Raised slightly, they looked around.

But the shore had all but vanished.

The waves bringing rags, torn and tarnished upon the land.

Sand was made to pearl, and pearl was made to man,

Eagerness now furnished the sorrow of the sand.

The minute hand is ticking,

Screaming silently without a sound.

Begging to the three men to return what they had found.

The sky tinted red, reflecting woes from the waters bed.

The sun set below, pulling it's chariot behind,

Visiting the underworld, giving sight to the blind.

As night crept neigh, the waves calmly called,

Lulling those who seek, a death in the mire and the bog.

Two men, with the two hearts, crawled upon their knees.

Each heart clinched tightly between yellow teeth; using tricks to feign their release.

The minute hand taunts loudly now:

"Should have listened to my cry!

Choke, instead upon your pride!"

Greed killed one, and envy snuffed the other,

Meanwhile, man one, lay softly in a slumber.

The cool evening breeze of salt and brine,

Danced with death and dealt with time, whose eyes were wide open with wonder.

Biding the man to awake and behold the disaster afore him.

But alas nagging eagerness deplored.

Sending waves to crash against the shore, erasing what was done.

Stealing the pivot of old times fun.

Patience is a virtue that time can hardly pass.

Yet the slumbering man lay silently, still upon the sand.
