Gambling - Poetry

By Phyllis HoltPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

If it were possible to double his bet

Parlay the lot to erase all his debt

He’d be a happy man, on whom the sun rose

With gleeful delight, expectations arose

Gambling was fun and a game to be won

No one was better at playing the odds but one

His nemesis at the gambling table

Was a man he’d played before, capable

Of disrupting his plan readily in hand

It was like playing a game of chess

He must be stealthy, use his finesse

To make possible doubling his bet

Parlay the lot and erase all his debt

surreal poetry
