Parkland We Still Remember ( a year later)

this poem was written to be on display at my old job as a part time library clerk 3 years ago. I had felt effected it when happened although lived miles away and knew no one from there. it broke my heart and a year later I wrote this poem and set up a display to honor the ones who had lost their lives.

A day of love turned into a day of pain

A blood and death around every corner

When all could be heard was bullets and screaming

It was not their time

The lockers never to be opened again

Will pain everyone

Parents on their knees praying that it wasn’t their baby

Parents crying on their knees knowing it was their baby

Everyone so brave

Everyone so kind

The one’s who hold the world in aww

Now gone away

Mothers saying good bye to their sons

Brothers saying their final good bye to their own brothers

Father’s burying their own princesses

Sisters stressing out at the last word they said to their sibling

Aunts and uncles effected from miles away

Cousins confused and in tears

A blood bath in the place where they used to learn

Teachers shielding students

Sisters losing sisters

Brothers losing brothers

Best friends losing best friend

This how it should not have been

Bullets should never have flown

Everyone should have gone home

Instead they are now gone

But , yet here we

Are

We still remember you

Not for the numbers in the books

But for the people that have gone

Make no mistake we cry still at the lost of life

But here we are a year later

We stand strong

We cry

We still remember

Let those who died that day

Live forever in this day and everyday

sad poetry
