Pareidolia

The tendency of our brain to see familiar patterns

By Seema PatelPublished 9 months ago 1 min read
@Seema

Our brain has evolved to

see familiar patterns —

for social as well as

survival benefits.

Anyway, that’s pareidolia

para is beyond

eidolon is image

which means

'beyond image' or

seeing shapes in things:

in clouds, in moon,

hills, rocks, tree bark.

I remember,

eye-shaped crook on oak

heart-shaped cladode

stallion-shaped clouds

and so many more.

Pareidolia is not

abnormality of psyche,

but,

a joy of exploration

imagination booster

creativity fuel

storytelling inspiration.

I do that, a lot

for I observe

with curiosity

and mindfulness.

So that day,

I saw the diffused clouds

in the blue sky.

it seemed like

an angel

spreading wings,

showering blessings

on this earthling.

Note: Share your pareidolia experience. There must be many.

Mainly just in watching the clouds flow by. I remember seeing rabbits and praying hands, and a lot of other things like babies. Good job.
