She was an ancient sorceress, both wise and powerful.
She shattered illusion through her storms and silence,
and tempered hearts through tenderness and trials.
Her breath was the ocean around me,
and her spirit, vast and enduring,
anchored me deep within her timeless, starlit womb.
The island was both crucible and sanctuary,
a place where the dreams of my ancestors burned away,
so I could finally lay claim to my own.
She forced me to confront every fear and shadow within,
then invited me to redecorate with love and gratitude.
Sri Lanka rewrote my story —
and in her wild, unpredictable magic, I was entirely reborn.

A mystical poem about an ancient sorceress and Sri Lanka’s transformative magic
This description of Sri Lanka is really vivid. It makes me think of how travel can transform us. Have you ever had a place completely reshape your perspective like this? I'd love to hear more about what specifically made this island so impactful. What stood out most to me was the idea of it being a crucible and sanctuary. How did that duality play out in your experiences there? It sounds like it was a place of intense personal growth.
This was sooo beautiful Kayleigh. I loved it!
