so let me know if I’ve got this straight?

you work night and day at this intense fast pace,

for bits of ‘paper’ that you call money

like bees that work tirelessly to produce honey

.

but you all work for the dead flesh of trees

that massive corporations seize

murdering great oaks by the million,

for a handful of people to make a few billion

.

and then you slaughter animals

to make things called purses and holdalls

all to put dead tree flesh inside -

a holder which you carry with pride?!

.

you even fashion this skin to dangle from your arm

to carry other trinkets and charms

and things called ‘keys’ to lock your ‘doors

(the flesh of slaughtered tree ancestors)

.

and what’s their purpose you hear me say?

Ah yes, to keep the rif raf at bay

human animals penned in ‘council estates’

unable to pay for things called ‘rates’

who come to steal that which you hoarde

because sharing is a concept so very absurd

.

so, back to that animal sack on your shoulder

that’s become this fashioned thing holder

exchanged for a lot of dead tree flesh

and woven by designers who are revered as the best

.

days or weeks of your time exchanged

for the very best in leather mange

is the life of an animal really worth this?

to become a thing holder of dried flesh?

.

but the problem here is not you, it’s me

for calling out this insanity

Whoaaaa, dead animal skin holding dead tree flesh, that blew my mind! I'm so glad I've never liked leather, it kinda grossed me out, even back when I wasn't a vegetarian yet. But as for dead tree flesh, I don't think I can live in this current world without it 😅

Another brilliant, thought provoking and stirring piece! A bit disturbing when it's all deconstructed
