Pandemic Made Parenting Easier
As my spouse worked from home and continues to do

The very pandemic
that reared ugly head,
as an enemy,
to show what fear is,
what a nightmare feels like,
unleashing unprecedented agony,
upending world of many,
came as a blessing to me.
A new mother I was,
already on a career break
to care for my infant.
I would have anyway
quit my biomedical job,
it wasn’t a field
to work from home.
My spouse, who worked in IT,
got the opportunity
to work remotely.
No commute needs,
so his schedule became flexible,
he could help with childcare.
My lonely parenting life
got way easier.
I must not dismiss,
this blessing
continues till now,
kids are now six and three.
If I’m writing now,
it’s because
they’re not interrupting.
Even though they are
playing around,
I have the peace of mind,
there is another parent,
to engage them,
to ensure their safety
to drive,
if emergency arrives.
I am not the only beneficiary,
of this pandemic gift,
yet I see it as
result of good karma.
