paint me into a hypocritical portrait.

do you know what it’s like

to say goodbye to someone

whose hello makes the

sweetest sound?

if you were to ask me

how to let go of connections

already long gone, i would say

you simply have to walk away,

but it would paint me into a

hypocritical portrait because

though i leave with ease,

i crawl back to them

in my dreams.

when i’m wide-eyed

and the heavens are starry-skied,

i ask the moon if she misses the sun.

her nod tells me that the distance

between luna and sol creates

an unshakeable absence

that i can feel from terra.

it is terrible to ache

as a way of missing someone

but we all coexist beneath the same sky,

we converse with the same moon,

we laze under the same sun — so

the absence of the connection

is not as present

as we may

think.
