Pain Lasts too Long

Joy is fleeting

Hours Crawl When it Hurts

Why does time slow down

when bitterness rots the soul

dragging out the ache

Time magnifies pain

inescapable, troubled

nights last forever

Ecstasy flies by

Joy never lingers for long

It’s a brief season

The sunshine won’t last

Rain clouds on the horizon

Sun too hot to hold
