Outside my window
A look into the ebbs and flows of life.
Outside my window, there is a tall oak tree.
I watch it every day as it sways.
I watch as life moves around it.
Always wondering
Will it fall? Will it break?
No, it's too sturdy for that.
Will it make it through these next few years?
Most certainly, I will watch as it grows.
--
I watch and watch as the seasons go.
The changes in leaves are quite the show.
From green to yellow to orange to red, they change.
Sometimes they even look like mange.
The oak once so full, now barren and stark.
I truly find it a work of art.
--
Winter has truly come
It has laid it on quite thick
The squirrels and the birds are nowhere to be found
The tall oak looks lonely to me.
All dark and black, covered in pure white frost
I wish it could see how it glows
I want it to remember its strong form now.
Like when it blooms come springtime
So full of life and flowing happily about
The animals come out from its warmth inside
Scurring about bringing it to life again.
The tall oak has become a lifelong companion for them.
--
Trees give us so much in life
Oxygen
Warmth
Cover
We could not live without them
Watching as the tall oak ebbs and flows
It reminds me of my life
The ups and downs, lefts and rights
The tall oak handles them all with grace and light
If I act as the tall oak does, what will I be?
Happier?
Stronger?
I guess I'll have to try
Even in the middle of winter, when it looks its worst
It shines inside and believes in the changes in the sky
Thank you, tall oak tree, for giving me hope
I will watch you outside my window each day
And ebb and flow just as you do
Through this crazy thing we call life
