Our Seaside Joy

Where we found each other

Laughing and giggling we rolled together, in the sand.

The sound of the waves accompanying our joy.

The setting sun, on the horizon, peeking through our half-closed eyes.

The warm orange gold glow of shared radiance, smiling.

Love and lust as alive as the sea,

Waves rising and falling, cresting and crashing,

With our touch, with our breaths, with our hearts.

As constant as the sun, as shining as the moon, as brilliant as the stars.

The universe suspended us, as we held each other.

I hold you here, in my memories, by that shining sea.

Choosing to ignore, the seasons that we, land dwellers, endured,

Of planting and tending and gathering,

Of new life, then fading blooms, and then loss and dust.

I return us, my love, to that sandy shore, to live.

Your imagery is luminous and heartfelt. The seamless transition from the physicality of the shore to the spiritual reflection of memory gives the poem great emotional depth.
