Otherworldly

Poet's Punishment

By Dwayne O ConnorPublished 3 years ago 2 min read
Missed Time

Sometimes I wonder how we made it so long

The greed and vanity are always so strong

Love is often used as a way to snare you

breathing a lie often unknown by two

If you believe the lie, you can be pulled

If you fight the lie, then you'll be fooled

Fooled into a proof of life trend, the trend of fitting in

Not of what you love, Not of the truth within

Serving the demons of a lie, can lead to servitude forever

One eternity that has no place in fable

one that offers you as a meal to their table

Just because you love what is not always accepted

You won't be heard or even respected

The vain use their platform to spew all their hatred

Towards anyone who thinks like you and forever rejected

The dream of a new land and a freedom of love

Is the dream of a fool if you're not careful where you dove

My dream of a future was based on a lie

where my love joined me and did certainly die

A new land that held old tropes

called us both in, with bullets and ropes

A young killer, who was a coward and liar

Placed upon a pedestal for shooting our crier

We all came to support our new brothers

Who had been wronged by an old league of liars

The coward ran away after threatening us all

with brave language and hatred in his call

He shoots my love, unarmed and not aware

that a young braggert with hatred and dare

Would pull a live trigger, towards one of peace

towards one who's love did not cease

Towards a people, wronged by many

Hated by few, those who will kill the weary

The dread of the deed has made my life nothing

to lose my true love and and left me with loathing

for fighting for a dream, a dream not protected

A dream that was promised and is always rejected

My life is so low, my dream is now crushed

for beliving in the dream and the life of the loved

My body not found, my mind is not honored

My spirit wandered long and my soul is pondered

In life I found no truth to the tale

but in my own death, I find my love never failed

heartbreak

Just a lover of literary expression no matter the genre. Spent too many years living a strange and extraordinary life not to eventually write about it and all the phenomenal beings I've encountered.
