A poem of reflection

Rainbow teardrops

Painting the sky

All I’ve known

Has finally died

Like burnt paper

Turned to ash

Alone I sit

Fading fast

Pondering Why

Fates so cruel

Internal struggle

Constant duel

Lost myself

Along the way

Discarded pictures

Of night and day

Drunk on love

Made me crash

What’s done is done

You can’t change the past

Life is short

It goes fast

Blink and it’s over

And love just doesn’t last

I'm a poet by nature and a Soldier by trade and my writing reflects my experiences not only in life but also in war. I use writing as way to express myself and deal with the horrors I've seen and hope my words can help my fellow Veterans.
