Orchids of Dreamland

A poem of love beyond reality

——————————————————

Once I dreamt of orchids fair

They colored up a garden

Out of dreams, my life laid bare

My heart thawed, what had hardened

——————————————————

For you, my truest love of mine,

Called out to me, to follow

Into our secret freedoms shrine

Where peace reigns over sorrow

——————————————————

Then in the corner of my eyes

Between all other flowers

Reality had dream-replied

An orchid bloomed in power

——————————————————

It is as though my soul knows yours

I see your plans before you

One look at you, I rest assured

Your love’s my favourite view

——————————————————

Whatever else the others bring,

Their cruelty or their care

You’ll always be for whom I sing

My songs of love like prayer

——————————————————

My dreams made me then whole again

Became one with the dragon,

That part of me that gives me strength

It carries me with passion

——————————————————

Now see, dear soul who’s bound to mine

A dragons love’s unearthly

And mine chose you as my entwined

My flames, they burn to warm thee
