Orchid Aura

unrequited growth.

For those who I’ve lost

and for the times I lost parts of me

I plant an orchid

and use it’s growth as a measurement

of time and intensity because each day passes

and you barely notice differences in who

they are, until their buds begin to ripen

and the flowers sprout, emitting feelings

of familiarity though some things have

changed, reminding me that time

and space will never interfere with the

bonds we hold for the ones we love

and just as time withers the leaves and

gravity causes the petals to drop, they

always bloom again as the seasons change

reminding others and myself of how strong

My ties are between the earth and my heart.
