Only the Dolphins Seem Not to Care
A simple rhyming quatrain poem
The wicked wind whipped up the waves,
Like a sea green milkshake with a frothy haze.
Seagulls swooped the savage waves
In search of food caught in the craze.
No peace today, no peace tonight,
The storm is strong, the wind is high
Stand back in awe of its power and might
From a shelter found that is warm and dry.
Sand sweeps off the shifting shore,
Mixed with rain, a cocktail of deadly spray.
The birds cry out, no more! no more!
On tiny red legs, they rock and sway.
Pelicans bob atop the waves.
No flying for these B 52’s of the air
Grounded on these wicked days,
They float around with a look of despair.
The dolphins surf the creamy froth,
They are the only ones that don’t seem to care,
Basking in the swirling broth,
Seems as if they are the only ones not to care.

Calvin - Great Poem. I live in a beach area of Delaware, so I can appreciate sea gulls.
I too, though 'this is not simple', it is deep like the ocean. I wish we could not care and just enjoy life's waves. Lovely poem.
It wasn't simple... It was profound and warm kind of poem 💕 Your thoughts on any simple thing can be so deep. ✨ Loved your poem, Sir ☺
