When faced with a batch
of freshly baked cookies,
That only I made from scratch
as Christmas goodies.
*
What is one to do?
Taste only one,
Then be done!
*
Yet the cookies whisper to me…
“Just only one little bite”
There will be plenty left
for Christmas gifts, that’s right!
*
It’s just…
maybe only one more.
yummmm,
that buttery vanilla melts away,
oh…that delicious chocolate chunks,
so sweet and rich.
Perhaps only one more bite.
*
A third, as the warm toffee lures me in,
with its caramel scent, singing “Only one more.”
*
My stomach protest
“NO MORE! NOT ONE MORE !”
But……
How about only one more?
And another,
and another,
and another,
until there is
only one cookie left,
then just only a tiny crumb.

Baking Christmas cookies today and boy is it hard to not have them all!

This is so true! Once you start on the homemade cookies fresh from the oven- you just can't stop until the plate is empty
