One Life

Live It To The Fullest

By Dan R FowlerPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

One Life

What shall I write upon empty pages today,

Lingering in my solitude remembering yesterday’s play.

Conversations billow around me of what was said,

Many topics for discussion by those now dead.

Within my heart of hearts, I ponder their suggestions,

Being determined to carry on, I’ve made my decisions.

As to whether to move forward isn’t the issue,

Life in itself speaks of things being made new.

I long for those days that are strewn before me,

And if possible, I want to become all I see.

But there’s no promise and rightfully so,

For my tomorrows are hidden in midnight’s shadows.

They tell me to dream those impossible dreams,

Regardless of my age or stumbling blocks, I’ve seen.

There’s no telling what adventures will come about,

But I’m told to trust and believe and have no doubt.

Sitting at my table with words pouring out,

I’ve tried my best to keep it in and not shout.

More of life is what mankind has always wanted,

Whether minutes or hours or years haunted.

No matter the content that each day may hold,

Be they shallow or boisterous or exceptionally bold.

I must live them to the fullest from dawn to night,

Experiencing all the gusto, being who I am in this life.
