One Day I'm Gonna Wake Up

and that's something I never believed

until recently

I'm 30 now

and being in this decade

somehow gives me a way to know

her even more intimately

it's divinity

she always lived vicariously

through my travels and adventures

I image she's truly enjoying

the front row seat to all of my victories

I don't have to hope

because I already know

she's proud of me

while smiling upon

the framework life

has set before me

So, one day I'm gonna wake up older than my mother every was,

and I'll give thanks every rising

for experiencing a new day

after all, this life is a long time

but a short time when you really break it down

I get this one shot,

and I'm always gonna make it count.
