on those sleepless nights ...
Unfiltered Challenge

on those sleepless nights ... it comes to me
like lone clouds forever drifting toward a home they don't have
all the questions tumbling through my twenty years of life that haven't found their answers...
all the broken shards of lost hope piercing the slumber out of my red, sleep-deprived eyes
all the struggles parading through my cluttered, fogged-up brain, stabbing my heart for comfort like a wood-pecker on a tree
...they all rise and fall harmoniously like sunrises and sunsets and waves that never grow still
if they can only sooth me... lull me to satisfaction ... like real ocean waves that rise and fall like a baby's chest, eyes closed to the turmoil and tumult of a restless world rocking on air.
if i can just ride a rainbow before the rain...
before the man in the moon spreads her gloom and sets the flammable feelings of helplessness into fatal flames...
