On His Mind

Sitting Drinking...

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 5 years ago Updated 2 years ago 1 min read

V-1

Sittin’ at the bar, he waits for the night to pass

He takes another swallow from his whiskey glass

He checks his watch and shakes his head

Will the lonely ever end? It’s gettin’ so hard to pretend

V-2

The bartender nods his head, it’s almost time to close

He downs his final drink, and thinks well that’s the way it goes

He pays the bill, slips on his coat and leaves yet one more time

Telling himself, this time he’s really made up his mind

CH:

Out of sight, she’s on his mind

And he’s wondering who’s she’s with this time

What kind of secrets are in the darkness hiding?

Why does he keep hanging on and being so blind?

Out of sight, she’s on his mind

Out of sight, she’s on his mind

V-3

He won’t sit in bars no more, waiting for the night to pass.

He’s going to do it this time, he’s leaving her at last.

Bags are packed, and he knows she will soon return.

And he promises himself, this time he will finally be gone.

Repeat CH
