Omniscience
A short poem on Letting Go of Knowing It All

I wish I could be omniscient.
Someone who knows it all,
How the world was created?
How to handle a fall?
I wish I could be omniscient.
I would know who to trust,
And take decisions that I must.
I have heard omniscience means all knowing,
A harbinger of fate.
Hear me out, I call to you.
Take me up on my request.
But then I stall for a moment and think my wish through,
If I knew all that would happen then there would be nothing that is new.
What fun would that be, to a reader like me?
Who turns every page waiting for the twist to reveal.
I stopped at the thought and considered my wish again.
If I knew everything, where would the mystery remain?
But there was more to life then just knowing it all,
It is discovering the world in a new light looking through your perspective wall.
To some the world is dreary, a lonely lifeless place.
To some it's filled with colors and a place to find escape.
So I take back my request, I do not wish for omniscience.
I choose now to embrace the world's vast mystery,
To savor the moments, the spontaneity, the history.
I choose the joy of learning, the thrill of the quest,
For it’s not knowing it all that makes life the best.
