Omer 11 - Synaptic lunar saltation
netzach of gevurah

I look on at the same moon as you,
the same moon of generations past,
the same moon primordial.
Synapses snap and pop as the fire goes
— silently chattering on among the
neglected hopeful monsters
begat by violence cradled in genetic memory.
The hopeful monsters breathe under new moon,
coaxed by cloaked surfaces to probe along dendrites,
along the collective unconscious’
yet named connective tissue
to whisper between us and them and
the little quarks found along the way.
Under glow of alighted surfaces
in sharp contrast of deep shadows,
they lumber off to slumber
as we breathe the collective sigh unknowingly held.
One day, we will know them as we know each other.
One day, I will hold them as I hold you:
close, gentle as I cry over the cruelties
unnecessary to existing we never deserved;
under the same lunar cycles
and its dendritic halo, echoing
neurons we can’t disentangle.
