My whole life I was told I am a cool Olive, because people like me just are. I accepted this olive tone and wore it on my skin. I now know I am warm Amber. This realization came with shame and disappointment. I identified with something because I was told that is who I am. Well who am I then if not this colour. I now stand lovingly in warm amber. Although I wear it with pride, I know we are so much more than olives, amber’s,pales, yellows, darks, warms and cools. This begs the question who are we, if not simply the tone we are told we are? The label society has given us? Who occupies this space? I now walk firm in my feet rooted with an open mind and an open heart.
