Old Friends

Hometowns

By Topsy KrettsPublished 8 years ago 1 min read

I greeted this town as an old friend. The friend you always loved but for some reason split apart. The longer I stayed, the more I realized that this old friend and I have moved on. We've grown apart. Everyone has changed, and yet everything is the same. I love this old friend. I always will. This town was my home. But I have grown and this town didn't grow with me. It wasn't until I left that I truly realized why I had to go. I was homesick but it wasn't until I got back that I realized that I was homesick not for this place, but for the hearts of those I left here. The memories I made. The time that we’re long gone. And that the hole this town dug in my chest had healed a while ago. And it feels good. I had a blast seeing this old friend of mine, but I will not miss them. Not anymore.
