It’s fascinating how our lives can be so mobile
Phones in our pockets holding our life, so fragile
Magically glued to our hands daily
And when gone, we act almost febrile
It’ fascinating how new, yet so old this phenomenon
Where we rely on such a device to live
And all our trust fallen on
Technology
-
Machine learning and AI widespread these days
The days of old seem but a haze
Where google would show random ads in your face
Now, with machine learning,
Ads are targeted at us in so many ways
Search “symptoms of fever” on google today
And find ads for cold medicine the next day
In many ways it can be useful
But do we really know what else the info is used for?
We want the convenience that machine learning gives us
And are often willing to turn away as privacy leaves us
So which way does your scale tip?
-
Tying us down to all this is social media
While noble in premise, it often leads to acedia
Much information we receive on the daily
Makes it hard to care for the world’s frailty
Making generations empty and cold
To the world out there, and the treasure it holds
Of magnificence and wonders
While they’re on their phones laughing at blunders
-
Technology is amazing and a wonderful companion
But careful or you’ll end up down that canyon
Of endless information, often useless
That will boggle your mind and turn you gormless

Oh yes, I totally agree with you. Technology is definitely a double edged sword!
The reality is scary. The phone is so attached that we sometimes look for it when we are talking to someone on it. Also, I get a weekly notification letting me know the average screen time use per day. The most so far was 6+ hours a day. It hasn’t reached that point again and I know there are people that use it much more. Anyway, thanks for sharing this eye opener.
