Oh-so Simple Phrase

I love you is such a simple phrase

But why is it hard to say

It runs through my mind on a sunny day

As I think of what other to say

Should I say

“My heart is drawn to you like the moon to the sun”

NO

I look at you walking by

As my mind debates whether I should say hi

Should I say

“Hi, I was wondering if you’re free after school?”

NO

I decided today is the day I say

that oh so simple phrase

I pass you by in disarray

As I come up with the courage

To ask about your day

I hope it opens an opportunity

To eventually create unity

To my surprise

Your in hand with another

A smile gleaming across your face

The tears stream down

My mascara blurs

And all I could think was

“ that phrase was oh so simple

Why couldn’t I just say it

I love you is not a simple phrase

And it take a lot of courage to say

Don’t take it lightly

Always be prepared

For what comes next

Will bring you great dispair

Don’t hesitate or debate

There is always a chance

of successfully getting a date
