Of Fears And Fantasies

An Inverse Poem

By Laura PruettPublished 2 years ago Updated 2 years ago 1 min read

The rain drips, drops on the roof

As the sun rises and

I know a storm is brewing

In the west

Yet I hear the pitter-patter –

little mouse feet running

As I listen, hoping I won’t hear the sound of

Rain falling

On the rooftop

Overhead

Nor mice in the attic

But I am not afraid of rain

I cock one ear, listening,

And I hear nothing

No mouse disturbs this house

The rain that falls, falls only as the sun sets
