Rescued from the pound
Where sadly there were many
Some barked & cried
But he was quiet
Perhaps knowing he was ready
The gate was opened
We took him out
On a leash to get to know him
He jumped & dumped
and pulled so hard
With our smiles
He kept on glowing
We could not but adopt
So signed him as our own
This furry gift we now call ‘Sammy’
Off to the pet shop to buy a bone
Now every day at sunrise
He jumps upon our bed
He rolls & snuggles in our arms
He looks until he’s fed
His love is unconditional
He soothes when I’m not well
He runs when I am trying to walk
And hides when his farts smell
He’s meditates when I start singing
And barks when he is scared
At night he puts himself to sleep
To leave him I would not dare
So here’s to you
A man’s best friend
Your eyes are like no other
For now I’II give you all I can
And love you like no other
