I was reading a book and it brought me to tears

Emotions that surfaced after some years

Something to do with one of my fears

Confirmed in the darkness of past

One day, I told you I’d write for you

Write you a book I could read to you

But instead, I wrote you a song

A song I cannot sing for you

Since the harmony of worlds is wrong.

I relive that moment

I hugged you last

Standing still

In the past

Now I see the shadows cast

Over the light you shined

Days and days I held your hand,

While you were supposed to enjoy the sand

In the sun, getting tanned

Surrounded by your children

I kept telling myself this beautiful lie

That you would heal,

You wouldn’t die

Hopeful that I wouldn’t cry

Of pain I’d feel for you.

One day I told you I’d write for you,

Write you a book I could read to you

I know I can’t sing my song to you,

But listen if you can hear:

I love you

I miss you

I wrote for you.
