Ode to comma, so small and neat

You pause a sentence, make it complete

You separate items in a list

Without you, writing would surely be missed

In dialogue, you indicate a break

A chance to take a breath, and pause to contemplate

In poetry, you add rhythm and rhyme

Without you, it would be difficult to keep in time

Ode to comma, you may seem so plain

But your absence would cause such great pain

You change the meaning, and cause confusion
