to Galanthus

Tiny Galanthus looked around

She wondered where the snow had gone

The day was new, the light was long

And the snow had left without a sound.

#

There was no time for her to stay

Narcissus had come out to play

The blanket white was hers no more

Her tiny head drooped low to pray.

#

"I am Galanthus, here I stand

A drop of snow as You have planned

The winter wind, the frozen breath

Has blown my soft bed from the land."

#

Galanthus looked up to the sun

And wondered why her world was gone

Then every Snowdrop God had willed

Slept soft ‘til her next spring did come.
