Ocean's Lullaby

A Poetic Reflection on Tides, Moonlight, and the Quiet Dreams of the Sea

By Rukka NovaPublished 10 months ago 1 min read

Tonight, the ocean breathes slow,

exhaling waves

like whispered promises

to sands

that wait patiently,

counting secrets carried

from distant shores.

Selene Oceanus rises,

her silver gown

brushing softly

against tides

that stretch and sigh,

pulling longing

from the marrow

of ancient bones

beneath the deep.

The shoreline wears

her fingerprints,

temporary tattoos

traced by moonlit fingertips,

erased gently

by each new wave,

yet remembered

by grains of sand

that nestle close,

preserving every caress.

Bioluminescent creatures

pulse quietly

beneath the surface,

a dance of tiny stars

lost in blue-black velvet.

They illuminate

forgotten stories,

the ones currents

whisper softly

to passing dolphins,

whales,

and ships

seeking safe passage

through darkened waters.

Somewhere,

a lone sailor

leans against the rail,

eyes reflecting

constellations mirrored

in quiet waters below.

He wonders

if the sea dreams, too,

or if he's merely

part of hers.

Selene Oceanus

watches him,

smiling softly,

lending him courage,

her tide-woven lullaby

guiding him homeward.

At dawn,

the ocean holds its breath,

the waves suspended

between worlds,

waiting for sunlight's

first touch

to reclaim the secrets

scattered

across the shoreline.
