Ocean Grove
A summer memory
Sitting here again, remembering the last time
Waves crashing individually to the sand,
A magical band of porpoises,
Poseidon's flock, leaping beyond the breakers
And summoning them with my thoughts,
I have returned.
The organ under the roof of a boat ashore
From which emanates the sound of the center of the earth,
Mostly on solemn and sacred days, calling.
Summer in Ocean Grove.
A man lands a flounder,
Posing for photos before throwing it back.
Too long out of the water, we worry,
Too small to keep but larger than I would have thought in the shallows.
The gulls descend on one tiny patch of ocean.
They are fishing too.
A young gull dove into a wave and winged up, baptized with failure.
Fishermen and fishers-of-men taking in the salt breeze,
Sighing the breath of land to exchange for the breath of sea
And above all, the crash of waves ironing out daily ripples of sand.

Beautifully captures the feeling of the beach.
It's lovely to read a familiar name, Natalie! Great work on this subliiiiime poem ^_^.
Love the writing and how this ended! Beautiful piece 🌊
The scene with the gulls and the flounder is so tender and observant, your eye for detail is wonderful.
Its cold where I am, winter time so I love the imagery in the poem to give the summer feeling.
