do I stay on your mind

like you linger in mine

as I trace the bruises you left me with

and count the ones you healed.

when you close the door

do you carry me in your heart

like I do

when you close your eyes

do you see me.

i need a constant reminder

of your existence

lest I begin to think you are a mere figment

of my overactive imagination.

when you leave me

are you still there

or do you disappear into the darkness

until you hold me again.

i never know.

are you real

when you are not with me

when I cannot kiss every part of your body

and get lost in your eyes.

do you exist

when you do not reply

did you forget about me

when you don’t call.

sometimes I feel like
